CNU’s 2011 Cross Country schedule includes two local meets – the season opener at Virginia Wesleyan on September 1 and the William & Mary Tribe Open on October 15. The season concludes with two long trips in November – first to Texas for the South/Southeast Region Championships and then to Wisconsin for the National Championships.

Coach Barreau Announces the 2011 Cross Country Schedule

The Captains will open the 2011 Cross Country season with the now-traditional dual meet with cross-water rivals Virginia Wesleyan College. CNU’s women have bested the Marlins in both previous meets while the men are 1-1 after their 19 point victory last fall.

The heart of the season includes the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational where the Captain’s will split the squads between a 4k course and a championship distance (8k/6k) course followed by the Don Cathcart Invitational at Salisbury University’s home course at Winterplace Park. The men placed 4th and the women 3rd at this invitational in 2010.

A split-squad weekend at Mount Olive College and the College of William & Mary will be the final tune-up before the USA South Conference Championships at Hagen Stone Park in Greensboro, NC. The men’s squad held off Shenandoah for their 18th consecutive Conference Title in 2010 while the women suffered their first loss in over a decade – a loss they look to avenge in 2011.

Texas Lutheran University is this year’s host for the South/Southeast Region Championships. The top two teams and the top seven individual finishers not on those squads qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships in Winneconne, WI – the home course of the Titans from University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh.
