LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The Christopher Newport outdoor track & field teams will be well represented at the upcoming NCAA Division III National Championships as sophomores Enuma Ezenwa and Daulton Teaford will join freshman Dominique Torres at the three-day title meet beginning on Thursday, May 23 at UW-La Crosse's Roger Harring Stadium.

Ezenwa will represent the women in the heptathlon, while Teaford will compete in the men's 200-meter dash. Torres, who will challenge for the crown in the triple jump, will be making his second appearance at the national championships this year after also competing in the event during the indoor competition in March.

In the heptathlon, Ezenwa enters the meet seeded 22nd in the nation. During the year, she broke the program record in the combined event with an incredible performance during the New Captains Classic. During the meet, she set a new CNU mark after accumulating 4,421 points, which helped vault her into the national championships. One of the most well-rounded competitors on the team, the Herndon native sits among the top-10 in program history in the 100- and 400-hurdles and fifth in the high jump.

The heptathlon will begin on Thursday with the 100-hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meters. The long jump, javelin, and 800-meters will take place on Friday.

On the men's side, Teaford comes into the nationals ranked 16th in the country in the 200-meters. During the Commonwealth Duals on March 30, the second-year standout posted his top time of the year after crossing the line in 21.63, which placed him in the championship field and marked the sixth-fastest clocking in program history. Dominant throughout the season, the Boyce native also captured the Mason-Dixon Conference titles in the 100 and 200 during the spring.

The men's 200-meter prelims will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The finals are slated for Saturday at 5:20 p.m.

Making his return trip to the national championships after a 13th-place showing during the indoor triple jump, Torres is tied for 11th in the outdoor discipline. During the New Captains Classic, the first-year phenom posted his finest distance of the season after landing a leap of 14.54 meters. He also notched the top triple jump effort during the Commonwealth Duals and Hopkins Invitational before securing a second-place showing during the Mason-Dixon Championships.

The Chesapeake native will compete in the triple jump nationals on Saturday at 12:35 p.m.
