Each year, while the Cross Country team gets rolling in to their competition season, the rest of the Track & Field team comes together for a week of team training and "Track & Field School" - our Fall Camp. The week gives us the opportunity to introduce our newcomers to the returnees, establish our expectations, and set up the fall training cycles that will lead in to a great new year of Track & Field. And we finished with a little game of Ultimate Frisbee...

From Jenna Elliott:

Every year fall camp is an exciting week because we get to finally meet our new teammates. As a freshman it was an information overload with lots of physics talk. Sophomore year I felt like I had already heard it all, so I was a little bored. Junior year maturity sinks in and you realize it is your job to help the freshman with their transition. But this year, being a senior, it was bittersweet since it was my last fall camp ever!

As always, I was happy to see all my teammates again after a long summer. It was nice to meet all of the newcomers, but sad that this was the last group of freshman I would get to compete with. The freshmen are strong and eager to compete. They definitely are a lot more coordinated at the new lifts and drills than I was as a freshman. I'm really proud and excited to get to know them as our season picks up.

Along with the new talent coming into the program we have many strong returners. There are multiple athletes with experience at the national level, and a few that are almost there. We are all ready to get out there into the new conference and do what it takes to get us to our goals. The team culture has become more focused and goal oriented over the years, and I trust it is only going to improve.
